i am a ro-BIT.
well, since everyone's adding their opinions, i'd like to say that i think 'darkest love' = hot sexxx.
and i like the robits. i mean, we're all gonna be robots soon enough anyway. we should start getting used to their sweet jamz.
jump, little robits. ro-bits!
anyway, even though vertigo is still my favorite, i think the new EP is amazing for obvious reasons [uh, listen to it!] and considering the fact that they didn't have tons of time to record it.
xo.

heh. yeah. they were so crunched for time recording it that when bill carson came through athens last he was not joined by his checkered past, just by evan, who had already laid down his drum tracks. but still...i hear the white stripes' new album was recorded in two weeks, and isn't that the same amount of time jump had? high quality. i dig.
cara, i agree with the equation darkest love = hot sexxx.

Your new icon picture is absolutely lovely.
And, I think, that just in general, darkest love = sex. The song (maybe not that version, but that's okay) definitely goes on my top ten songs that should be played while getting laid list.

Amen! Other jump songs on the "top ten songs to play while getting laid list"......habit, body parts....just a whole Matt Bivens smorgasboard (sp?). maybe not pink lemondade, haha....but certainly the singer.

i completely fell in love with the new EP...i mean..i have loved every single one of jump's cds...and it never ceases to amaze me how their music has evolved....variety is an essential to jump i think and their albums definetly prove that.....yes..the new EP does stray from the usual jumpness but it is them changing their music again....you have to respect a band that can morph into SO MANY different sounds...i know i do :)
and i completely agreen Amanda Mae....definetly a foreplay song..it oozes sexuality just like the rest of the mattness

So true....pink lemonade for the happy foreplay, you can look when things get intense, and then 'turn out the lights, turn back the sheets, say goodnight, and turn me on....' so to speak. haha, you guys shouldn't have gotten me started on this train of thought, cause i could go on forever.....:)

okay, because I'm bored, here's the list:
1) "Colorblind," Counting Crowes
2) "Completely Pleased," Semisonic
3) "Crash" or "Lover Lay Down," Dave Matthews Band
4) "Californication," Red Hot Chili Peppers
5) "Tainted Love," Marilyn Manson (cover)
6) "Sex and Candy," Marcy Playground
7) "Darkest Love," Jump
8) "Glycerine," Bush
9) "Numb," U2
10) "Closer," NIN or "Justify My Love," Madonna
If you actually put it in this order, you'll see it kind of builds. Now, #10, vote, what's the better orgasm song? Haha. Nine Inch Nails vs. Madonna.. I can see it now.

I have this playlist saved on my computer (songs are in random order). They are not meant for foreplay and then sex, they're more for just sex.
-Darkest Love
-Utopian Sky (this one is on more because I like it and it has a decent rhythm, than because it's good for sex)
-You Can Look (I hate spelling it with a U. Please, be above Britney Spears, Matt!)
-haha I have a random one by Beolach, which is Cape Breton Celtic. It's badass and it's got a good rhythm. It's also maybe not the most ideal for sex.
-Frou Frou - Let Go
-Modest Mouse - All Night Diner
-Body Parts
-Habit
-Tori Amos - iiiieee
-Tori Amos - Raspberry Swirl
-Garbage - Temptation Waits

Oh my goodness. There are some songs on these lists that would COMPLETELY kill the mood while I searched for the CD player in the dark to kick it out the window or at least turn it off or look for a bucket to vomit in.
Different "strokes" for different folks, I guess!

I like "Closer" by NIN, but more in a "dancing to at a goth club" sense than a "actually having sex to" sense. I prefer not-so-fucked up songs on my sex playlist. ...Though I did put Tori on there, so I can't really talk.

i think Closer makes you want to have sex rather than ever have it actually accompany any such action. the thought of being in the heat of the moment and trent talking about animals makes me want to cringe. and I LOVE that song. especially now that i think i've gotten over the ahhh he said a bad thing! factor. I told catie I'm going to choroegraph it for the mature audience. I think we're going to offer strip aerobics next year, it can be part of that class. and the Flash Dance ice and chain strip scene... anyone?
top ten songs to actually have sex to?
Don't you think it would be weird to be getting it on to your nice Charleston friends' tunes? I feel strangely about that.
Everybody here wants you, Jeff Buckley
Anna Begins, Counting Crows
Bittersweet Symphony, Verve (Think Cruel Intentions Soundtrack)
Springtime, Angie Aparo
Evil Angel, Rufus Wainright
Turn Me On, Norah Jones
Criminal, Fiona Apple
Where did you sleep last night song, Nirvana
Please, U2 (nevermind the part where it says get up off your knees)
#1 Crush Garbage
And for good measure: Feelin' Love by Paula Cole:)

#1 Crush by Garbage is an awesome song! Though once again, it is a bit too disturbing for me to want it on during sex.
I agree on what you said about "Closer".

ooooh, thats a hot mix. LOVING the Jeff Buckley, great Fiona choice, and I honestly thought I was the only person who knew just how hot feelin' love is. That song makes me feel way dirty, but I guess in a good way, haha. Others to include:
Dream On by Aerosmith
Simply Beautiful by Al Green....i don't know how many of you know this song, but its wow.

I have been compelled to weigh in on this thread by Allison.
What you need to understand is, the key to a good sex mix is the the fact that the seduction music is part of it. You can't stop someone in the middle of, um, whatever they are doing so you can run over to your CD player and pop in your "Music for Humpin" mix. You have to start it up when you get them back to your humble abode, and act like you're not trying to imply anything with your HOTT background music.
It also shouldn't just stop abruptly at the end of the act. Think about a story arch. A climax is simply the major turning point, not the end.
So, presented with notation, a chronological sex mix:
Arrival. "Come on in, sorry about the mess."- Strong As Death (Sweet As Love) // Al Green
- Lover, You Should've Come Over // Jeff Buckley
Smooching begins.- Love Letters // Jude
- I've Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now) // Otis Redding
Clothes start coming off. Nakedness and related activity is in full swing by track 7.- I Want You // Elvis Costello
- Sugar Pill // Ambulance Ltd
- I Remember // Damien Rice
Climax.- We Looked Like Giants // Death Cab For Cutie
Hopefully at this point you have wooed the honey to the point where they want to have breakfast with you in the morning. There is none of that "I have to get up really early" stuff. And you fall asleep.- Falling Away With You // Muse
- Drown In My Own Tears // Will Hoge
This puts the whole act, from start to finish, at about 45 minutes. While that might be a lot to expect from men at my age, it's certainly not impossible. A girl can dream.
It should be noted that my obsession is not sex, it's mixtapes -- pacing, timing, and flow. It has many of the same concerns as sex I suppose. :)
