Thank you!
Thank you to those who voted for me.
Thank you to those who brought yummy food.
Thank you to the weather gods for giving us gorgeous weather. Even if it meant my having a slightly sunburned face later that evening.
Thank you to those who provided us with a musical ambiance.
Thank you to all the Opiates who showed up and embraced the wonderful geekiness of the whole event. As for the rest of you---thank you for thinking you're too cool to attend. Or something.
And---most importantly---thank you, Ali, for putting this fantastic Opiate picnic together.
I fucking love you guys.

And to Shelley, who has made running/voting/nominating a breeze in addition to providing us with this source of constant contact.

I'm really tired of me. Are you?
Ok.
We're just gonna go ahead and tempt fate. Picnic is on. Friday, 12/30. Marion Square. 12:30 until...whenever the last person leaves.
The awards will not suck, thanks to those who so generously donated.
I'll have candy and other nonsense things, but if you want something with substance I'd suggest looking out for number one and bringing whatever makes you happy. Sorry! Party trays were too expensive - I looked. There are several great restaurants right by the park that you can order to go and then tromp on over to join the merriment and good cheer.
BYOB. Put it in a COKE bottle and no one will know, right?
My hotel has wireless, so I'll have access to my email. If anybody needs anything, opies05@gmail.com will do the trick. No plans will be changed from here moving forward though.
It's on, ladies and gentlemen! Can't wait to see you guys soon!

Why must it always raaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiinnnnnnn on my...picnic?
So. Rumor has it that it's going to rain on the 30th.
I beg to differ. It will not! But, I'm not one to tempt fate by NOT putting a backup plan in place, sooooo....
WHO THE HELL KNOWS WHERE WE CAN HAVE THIS DAMN THING IF IT RAINS?!
I'm at a loss, y'all. Who can suggest a good place? A big restaurant with a private room? A parking deck? Anyone have any good connections in Charleston? Suggest away in the comments. The winning one will be posted here. I will make a judgement post on the morning of the 30th so I'd suggest those of you without internet connection find a buddy who will have it and give them a ringaling.
Sound good?

Tired of me yet?
OPIATE PICNIC DETAILS!!!!11111OMGOMGOMG
When? Friday, December 30.
Where? Marion Square (falls between King St and Meeting St, also bordered by Calhoun St. Diagonally across from the Holiday Inn at Meeting and Calhoun, diagonally across from the Moe's at King and Calhoun, and right across from the Port City Java at King and Calhoun. There's a bigass tree in the middle of it. Really. You can't miss it.)
Look for the big insane nutty group somewhere in the middle, usually we perch somewhere between the statue and aforementioned bigass tree.
What time? 12:30 P.M. until every starts bookin' it to the matinee. The Final Opie Ceremony will begin at 1.
What should I bring? Goodies, if you care to share any. A smile. An open mind. A good sense of humor. Leave your shame at the hotel, please.
What are we going to do? Hell if I know. (Yet.) But it WILL be a good time.
Who are the hosts? Everyone's favorite Asian Sensation - Hung. And everyone's favorite Hot Girl with a brain to match and personality to beat it all, Allison Hayn. Oh yeah. And me.
*******IMPORTANT!!!! READ THIS PART IF YOU'VE EVER (and I mean EVER) WON AN OPIE!!!!!!!*****************
Please email opies05@gmail.com if you've won in the past AND you'll be attending the picnic. Thanks.
Hey Alison, do you need money? HELL YES I DO! Thank you SO MUCH to those who have been so incredibly generous already. I appreciate you and your fellow Opiates will too. However, I know there's a few more of you out there who could probably part with $2. I hate to stand in the way of you and the dollar menu or 1800-CALL-ATT, but I know you can do it.
******Paypal whatever you wish to alkendrick@gmail.com please and thanks.******
Are you done yet? For now. Stay tuned, in case I feel like babbling at you s'more.

The post I've been dreading.
Remember how I asked if people would mind throwing me a buck or two for the Opies this year? Well. The time as come.
All money donated will be used ONLY for the Opiate Picnic/Opies. I will provide transaction histories and receipts if anyone is concerned. We're all broke, present company included, but if you can afford to send $2-$5 to me to ensure the awards don't blow and the goodies flow freely, please do.
Thanks, guys!
