Columbia, SC
What a great show in Columbia last night. (Despite the ultra-loud dance party going on next door!)
Not a large crowd, unfortunately, but it was so much fun to hear a few Jump songs sprinkled in.

Jay Clifford tour
So...where is everybody? I hear there was barley anyone at Ziggy's a couple nights ago, and the Lincoln Theatre was barely a third full last night. Step it up, you guys. You're missing out.
Anyways, the show was really great. The band Jay put together sounds pretty good. Hearing Rains in Asia, Vertigo, and Mexico in whole-band form again was weird. I mean, exellent, you know? It was really fun. Jay and Johnny played a few old songs together (No God no Country, Where she Lies, etc). Cathedrals has never sounded better. I thought Jay's voice was especially on target that night. He played practically the whole new album, which sounds great live.
Slow Runner was just plain FUN. This is the first SR tour I've seen with Josh Kahler on drums...he did a great job. And they have shirts with whales on them! It's the best fitting girl-band-tshirt i've ever bought!

eddie's attic - cinco de mayo
I posted set lists over at Jay's new message board, so you should go and check it out.
I find it most amusing that during solo Jay shows I can still hear Jonny's harmonies, see Ward and Matt attempting choreography, and giggle thinking about the faces Evan is making in the back. I understand the Jump hiatus, and I applaud all the new projects they are undertaking, but I still miss those boys being together on the stage. It was really lovely to see Jay perform again.

Jay Clifford in Birmingham
Tonight's show was pretty damn wonderful. Too bad it was only a one song encore. But still the show was great. Even though, us in the front were probably quite a bit obnoxious at times. Here's the set!
Mexico
Dim and the Dark
Diving Bell
Cathedrals
Waltzing Past the Grave (I loved the demo of this song, and loved it even more live)
Safekeeping
Where She Lies
Dissolves (Loved it love much more than the demo)
Zach Braff improv (at this point I yelled out for a story about meeting Zach Braff. He tried one style which didn't work, then played a blues song, but it merely said that Zach called him up, told him he loves his music, and drove up in his Porsche, and they hung out)
Vertigo
Rains in Asia
Yesterday's Move
By the Way They Dance
Angeldust
Beautiful Moment
Hold You Down
Mother's Eyes
Encore:
Say Goodnight
A wonderful time was had. I wish I could see Jay more often.

I swear, Jay just keeps getting better and better. Thanks to Adam, I have a setlist full of gloriousness. After an AMAZING opening performance by your favorite and mine Tin Cup Prophette, Jay played:
Safekeeping
BTDAD
Know When To Walk Away (Amazing NEW Song #1)
No God No Country
Waltzing Past A Grave (AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING New Song #2)
Rains In Asia
Mexico
Don't Be Fooled (Glorious New Song #3)
Pigeon
By The Way They Dance (Special request from Jay's Dad)
Dissolves (Amazing New Song #4, which Jay opened by saying "You guys know me. I never talk about politics on stage. And I probably never will. But....." and then he started to play)
Mountains So Grand
Daylight
Cathedrals
Say Goodnight
Encore #1:
Do You Love An Apple (With Amanda, so great)
Little Ranger (A complete improvised deliciously long song about Wyatt wandering around in his backyard with "a rabbit, a moose, and book by Dr. Seuss..Don't know when hes gonna come back, he gives me a heart attack")
Where She Lies (unplugged and wow.)
Encore #2:
Yesterday's Move (I think this is what it was called, Adam, I still can't read your handwriting, haha)
Maybe its because I haven't seen Jay in awhile, but seriously, this show was incredible. He was relaxed, he was in a great mood (as was the whole audience), and every single song from the new CD was amazing. He said that they just sent it to be mixed and it should be out in August. Get ready for a full Jay tour (and he promised to head up to the northeast for all those opiates up there). Lots of opiates out in full force, and good times were had by all. Just your typical Jay-out-of-body experience.
Miss you guys! Make sure you show Jay lots of love on the rest of his mini-tour dates. I know you will:)

Hey everyone. Check out trianglemusic.blogpot.com for a few video clips from Cary Ann and Leslie's show at the Soapbox in Wilmington last weekend. They're dark but they rock.

Tin Cup Prophette @ Barbes, Brooklyn, NY, 11/17/06
Ok, I lied, here's a "almost-setlist":
Liar & the Thief, Going Numb, Instrumental, Speak or Spill Down, Until the Dust...and it's possible one or two others, but it was a short set.
Very very nice. She'll be on NPR's "Mountain Stage" this week, if you get that in your area. Look at her myspace for details.
The room filled up to bursting by the time she finished, which owes something to the fact that it's a small room, there were lots of instruments [it was just her and a drummer, but she had the guitar, violin, xylophone, and pedals, and he had a mostly-full kit and some kind of drum machine], and the band going on next [Bootleg Remedy -- it's been too long a week for me to stay through more breakdown and setup of instruments because I think I am really old] is lots of people. But it was still a really good crowd. And my favorite bar. Yay Brooklyn.

Ward and Danny @ Bar 4, Brooklyn, NY
Ward's first show in NY = 5 blocks from my house. Weird.
Ward:
Pickup Truck Girl
Maybe Someday
Alabama Smile
Not Gonna Wait
Forever's Not Thirteen
Danny:
It's a Crime*
...
Maggie
"what goes on in that lavendar room"
...
-----------------
I may have missed a song or two, and the order of the songs is far from guaranteed. I.e., I didn't write anything down. But it was nice to see Wardie for the first time this year (weird), even though it was really late on a weeknight, but it was 5 minutes from my house, so I can't complain. Danny's first song was my favorite Bill Carson song ever -- anyone know if Bill or Danny wrote it?
next up for Park Slope: Amanda Kapousouz on Friday night, without then with Bootleg Remedy. A block away from my house. Sweet. I promise that I will not post a setlist, unless Amanda plays Do You Love An Apple? twelve times in a row.

jay in boston!
yay boston! the crowd was awesome (seeing as the large group I went with was most of the crowd) and the show was amazing. Jay with Michael Bellar. I'd be more coherent, but I'm still stupidly tired.
setlist:
Mexico
Dim and Dark
Only Son
Holy City
Pigeon
No God, No Country
Safekeeping
Angeldust
By the Way They Dance
Yesterday's Move
Close Your Eyes
Where She Lies
Just A Second
Hang it on the Wall
Say Goodnight
Invisible Sun
Cathedrals
------------
Diving Bell
It was quite amazing. And Megan Coffee was as well! I was blown away by her.
I'm sure Tara will post a better review. All I'm good for is a setlist ^_^
