Too good to be true...
So, I know I've been a bad little opiate and not posting since I wrecked my car on the way to pick up Giovanna and company on the way to a Ward show (ouch?) but I'm changing my ways!!! Or, trying to at least.
It all happened last night. It was a moderately cool evening in Winston-Salem, NC... with nothing much going on. My friend, and opiate buddy Taylor decided to have an adventure since we were rather bored on a Friday night in the Camel City. So, we head over to the local used bookstore.
Before we enter, I announce (jokingly) that tonight is the night I will find the only Jump CD I do not have in original form... BUZZ. Taylor laughs, and claims that finding that CD is damn near impossible... since all the copies have surely made their way into the hands of the Jump-loving-opiate community and are not to be found in real life any longer. Most certainly never in Winston-Salem.
WRONG!!!
Taylor hears me scream from the CD rack.
"IT'S THE ONLY JUMP CD HERE!!! AND IT'S BUZZ!" Taylor's reply? "Bull. No way.... wait... shesh! That's it! Dang. Weird."
Only downside? Although the liner notes are original... the CD is not. It's defiantly from the "Early Years" CD collection. Oh well! At least I get one more song than expected.
So there's my Jump story. I hope it was pleasing to you to read it as it was for me to experience it. I miss you opiates!!!

another radio story...
I was enjoying a pint with friends last night at the Flying Saucer in Columbia, and we were all enjoying the radio station chosen for the evening. There was some Guster, some OK Go, and some other cool but random things. We'd just laughed our way through some Motion City Soundtrack and as the next song started, we all paused, thought, and realized it was Rains in Asia. It was quite excellent, and though no one else in the place seemed to recognize it, we enjoyed ourselves.
On another note... I've also caught Black Shoes by The Films on the radio there. They must have the ins on the DMX stations.

WBOS plays (tiny snippets of) Jump
Every now and then the radio makes me happy. Listening to a WBOS (92.9FM) station identification, and they're advertising their Over Easy After Hours block at 7pm, and what do I hear in the collage of songs but Jay crooning "In the Cathedrals... of New York and Rome..." and my brain went "bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" for a few seconds, because it just could not compute hearing Jump on the radio, as I've never been lucky enough to catch the once-in-a-blue-moon occasions they're played north of the Mason-Dixon line. And then I was happy. And then I came here so you could be happy too.

So scary.
Last night I had a dream that one day I signed on opium, as usual, and saw all of these reviews for a jump show that had taken place but that I didn't know about for some reason. It was like, the ONE reunion concert EVER and everyone knew about it and was saying how amazing and emotional and glorious it was, and putting up pictures, and I had had no clue that it was even coming up. Horrible.
Moral of the story? I think I should go back to checking opium 10x a day...just in case:)

Dude.
Last night, I dreamed I traveled back in time to see the first Jump, Little Children show ever. (Only it was the 70's..... and at some giant flea market.) It was like my mission to prevent the band from breaking up that day, and not exsisting in the future.
The end.

atm
so, upon waiting in line with my boyfriend and friend at the jam-packed atm on the weekend of the 4th, this girl and her friend in line start flirting with the boys i was with and begin jabbering, "y'all have a wachovia card just like my dad! is it wokovia or watchovia? look at our dog! isn't he cute?!" i ask her what her dog's name is, and the man at the atm with a baby in his arms turns around and replies, "it's cash." he shoots the classic smile and says, "thanks for being a good sport." and much to my surprise, jay clifford was playing the ultimate dad with his dog, baby, daughter, and friend in tow, and thanking my boyfriend and i for playing along with his daughter. it was precious, and definitely made my july 4th night.
the end.

yeah, yeah, yeah... another jump dream
I'll keep it brief because I know people post these all the time, but this one was a bit different from my normal jump dreams...
So I went to what I thought was going to be a jump show, but instead of coming on stage with instruments, the boys began to act out a Christmas pageant for us. The costumes were ridiculous, and I think for some reason Jonny dressed up as a rubber chicken. But yeah... it was a combo of crazy ballet moves and more modern hip/hop stuff. I wish I could remember more details, but that's all I've got.
PS I seriously can't wait for Jay's tour.

jump in a bookstore
There I was in the Clemson University bookstore looking for a good ole fluid mechanics textbook...and then something incredible happened...Not Today started playing!! I would like to thank the gods of random bookstore music for making my one trip to the bookstore this summer one that was more than wonderful...I didn't even buy the book because who wants to spend $100 on a textbook...but I tell you, the trip alone...it was priceless. And that's that--one Jump song in the bookstore, and my summer was made.

Dream
So, i had the oddest dream about Jump this afternoon during my nap after work...I thought ya'll would like to hear about it...
My firends Jess and Heather, and I go to what I'm guessing to be a celibratory lunch or something a few days before we go off to Charleston. Most of the resteraunt looks like the wearhouse that I work in (just picture Home Depot only with boxes full of food like stuff rather then home stuff)and the far fourth or so is a fast food place.
For some reason Jess keeps talking about how she wants to make up a scanvenger hunt olipmics type thing for me, Heather, and Jess to do while we are in Chas. And make a myspace group for it. Heather and I seem to causally pertend not to hear her every time she brings it up.
So we walk in and I see someone who looks like Ward, and, of course I flip out (I'm a Ward girl...)....turns out it's not him. But apperently he and Mattare sitting down behind said imposter. So of course Jess and I want to talk to them (Heather has no interst for some reason...increadibly odd), and we notice that they went up to order food. So we do the same, as we are walking up, I notice that Ward and Matt are holding hands (Odd? I t hought so).
I turn around, and the warehouse part of the place is now a small room with, on the far wall, there are shelves with folded leather jackets on them, and a maniquien (sp) with a leather jacket and a leather hat on, and a bunch of gay guys are in the room talking about how ugly it is. When I trun back around, Ward and Matt left.
So we decide to go back to our seats, and on our way, I talk to Ward (a very short convo that I have no idea what was said). Then Jess and I walk about two feet, and all of a sudden, we are across the street from a wheat feild...and looking for Heather (she dissappeared)...Well...I am...Jess seems too wrapped up in her scavenger hunt.
Out of no where, Matt and Ward show up, and asked if we were from the Boston area. (I don't know why, seeing as I assumed that we were still in Ma). We said that we were, and then Ward was like "Do you know Lauren Leadbetter?" (our English teracher), so we said we did, and his reply was "I dated her" and then he walks away.
So we decide to look for Mrs Leadbetter (while not moving by the way). She approaches us with some guy I assume to be her boyfriend. And I ask her if she has ever dated a Ward Williams. She denys it in her little flirty voice. And so I decide to get Ward and have him make her admit it. So we do, he does, and she does...after a while, and more flirty talking from her.
Then they both vanish, and Jess wants to cross the street to look for someone (I'm guessing Heather), and so she crosses the street, and I go, and a heard of horses cuts me off! And in the middle of the heard, there is a lady, riding a horse, takeing pictures of them. After they leave, there were these, horse-people (I cannot think of the name of them right now) things, but they had a horses' head along with back end (they still have a human's torso)...and they kept on slapping me as they ran by.
And then a big group of poeple walked by, including Jay, Jhonny, and a Jhonny look-alike.
And then Heather called and I woke up...

Jump, the Downtown Edition: My dorkiness is now evident.
Note: I live in Charleston.
I was just driving home from work, cruising (read: crawling) downtown w/ my windows rolled all the way down and "First to Feel Like This" blaring. I wasn't really rockin out, just mostly waiting for the folks ahead of me to move.
And then Matt drove by in the other direction. ("D'oh!") I don't know if he saw it was me or not... But b/c it's Spoleto and traffic is snarled and slow-moving, so it's possible.
Yeah, I kinda thought that would happen if I drove around playing Jump really loudly...that of course I'd see someone from the band. I was hoping some tourist would be like, "OMG, who are you listening to? it's brilliant!" and I could tell them and spread the Jump love. but instead it was mattie. haha.
I was embarrassed for a few seconds, then after that it became hilarious. Some days I'm careful not to play Jump uber-loud b/c the chance of that (what just happened) occurring, but I threw all caution to the wind today. Oh my. what a jumpnerd am I!
This struck me as amusing and I just had to share.
